Yes, 31 bikes and their proud owners, all lined up for a group photograph in the seven hundred block of North Ninth Street in Reading during the summer of 1913 by Schlappig and Endy Photo Studio, housed in the American House. On the left can be seen a Trolley and a car, which sports a 1913 Dealer license plate. Three early modes of transportation all in one classic shot. Both ends of the block can be seen in the same panoramic view. RMC was not officially Incorporated until 1914 which may explain the lack of an RMC banner, logo or sign in this print.
The original print of this photograph was in need of re-framing after falling off the wall. The actual print was undamaged but the glass was broken. The newspaper backing used behind the print in the original frame was dated Aug 1913. A knowledgeable official of the Berks Historical Society confirmed the location by using a City Directory of that time period, stating that "They were across the street (710 N. 9th) from G. L. Dengler's motorcycle sales and service". While the original was in the process of being re-framed, it was professionally scanned and restored, including the removal of several negative defects from the initial film processing. The incredibly detailed framed print up for sale is an archival copy from the digital restoration file using Epson Ultrachrome Inks, matted and framed using acid free materials in a matte black aluminum frame.
Image size of this print is about 6 1/2" by 29 1/2".
The frame outer dimensions are about 11" by 34".
